Lockers trawlers established in 1985 is a family run company with sustainable fisheries management at the heart of the business.
The company was first established by cousins Arnold and Michael Locker with the vessel ‘Kelly BCK 303’. Since 1985 the company has evolved under the guidance of MD Arnold Locker and has been able to prosper in an ever changing and challenging industry. Lockers Trawlers employs an infrastructure to support and challenge alternate fishing opportunities and also to act as an adviser to government on fisheries related issues. All of the Lockers Trawlers vessels fish under the ‘Fully Documented Fisheries’ (FDF) scheme operating a ‘less than 1% discard rate’ which is continually monitored by the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).
All vessels committed to the fishery use specially modified nets to release the smaller fish, failure to comply with the strict rules of the ‘Less than 1% discard’ policy results in the vessel being withdrawn from the fishery. In the company’s 31 years of trading they have built 5 new fishing vessels. Lockers Trawlers currently operate three vessels, Our Lass 3, Resolution and Adventure with a fourth new build vessel ‘Victory Rose’ soon due for launch June 2017….
